5 Reasons to Have a "Me Time" Boudoir Session if You're a Mom

Updated: Jul 2

We mammas share so much in common. We love and care for our children, sacrifice our time, energy and money for our families, and too often put ourselves last — especially when prioritizing our wants, needs, and our personal growth. That said, moms are still individual beings who deserve to remember who they are; outside of family obligations.

I get it - there is a magical gratification to being a Mom - There’s nothing like those bedtime snuggles or watching your kids bite into a warm chocolate chip cookie you made together. But all too often we run around with Cheeze-Its in our hair and our favorite workout sweatshirt on for three days straight; forgetting that we are gorgeous divine beings.

Well ladies, it's time to resolve to honor that beautiful, BA woman you know you are. A great way to do this is by treating yourself to a boudoir session. Boudoir is an elegant and timeless way to remember who you are and celebrate the beauty of YOU!

Here are five reasons every mom should consider a boudoir session:

1) Your partner Would Appreciate the Gift

Surprise your SO. Deliver your person a set of photos as an ArtBook, or perhaps hang a glass gift Heirloom Box. Better than any gift certificate, think of the surprise your person might enjoy by unwrapping a selection of photos of you showing your ass(ets)! Boudoir photos are great for any and all occasions; anniversary, engagement, wedding or birthday gifts and of course; just because.

2) You Experienced a Major Life Change

There is nothing like a major life event to get you interested in new experiences and adventures. I will forever cherish a photoshoot I had with a women who was doing 40 things to celebrate who she was, in her 40th year of life. One of these things was a boudoir photoshoot. Whether starting a fresh chapter, recovering from an illness, starting to try to have a child, or embracing an empty nest, a boudoir session can help you celebrate your major milestone.

3) Remember You Today

We take thousands of pictures of our kids. We endlessly strive to capture each stage as our children grow from toddlers to teens and beyond but what about YOU? Maybe you just want to feel like you again. A boudoir session will capture who you are today and allow you to treasure this version of you forever.

4) Get Out of Your Comfort Zone

One of my most favorite quotes is this:

Be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the play-it-safers, the creatures of the commonplace, the slaves of the ordinary. - Cecil Beaton

We can't grow if we don't challenge ourselves. What better environment to do something scary than with an experienced professional who has guided hundreds of women through the journey you are currently embarking on? A boudoir session, with the right photographer, can transform the way you see yourself.

5) Celebrate You and Your Life

Wherever you are along the journey of motherhood, a new mom, single mom, or an experienced mom, this is a chance to celebrate you in this moment. You will never be this person again.
